Off with My Head...of Hair

Things that have happened this week: 1) Peter started school and changed from 17.5 credits to 13.5; 2) Peter acquired a new bike courtesy of the man who hit him; 3) Peter got a job as a research assistant for the Petroleum Engineering Research Center; 4) Emily, Gideon, and Silas rode a UTA bus for the first time; 5) Emily used birthday money from mom and dad to get a new haircut, a new pair of pants, and a new shirt (Thank you mom and dad!)

Already?

Yesterday as we were driving, I commented on the number of people that I see smoking inside of their nice cars. Gideon piped up from the back seat, "I need to smoke! Pleeease!"

Gideon's Prayers

Gideon is learning how to say his own prayers. Two nights ago the content of his prayer was, "Thank you for daddy. Thank you for baby. Thank you for mommy. Thank you for diapers. Thank you for mommy. Thank you for puppy. Thank you for Scooby Dude. Thank you for Jesus. Thank you for (something that I didn't understand--possibly family home evening)." I was hoping that Gideon's gratitude for diapers was a fluke. Last night, however, his prayer was much shorter and diapers still made the list. No wonder I can't potty train him!

Swimming

We went swimming this afternoon and Gideon loved it! He didn't want us to hold on to him, so he would leap into the water, sink, be rescued, spew out water, and repeat the process, undeterred. When we got home, Peter took off his swimming shorts revealing the Speedo underneath. Gideon looked up at Peter with wide eyes and asked, "Is that a pull-up?"

My Sweet Little E.T.

Peter's family's neighbor girl (did you get that) looked at Silas and then told me that he looked like E.T. How sweet!

Warning: You May Not Want to Read This, Dad

Gideon became very excited when he found a piece of lint on the floor. "Belly button lint!" he shouted as he inserted it into its proper place. And speaking of trying to be like daddy...

Poor Nursery Leaders

I'm always scared to ask how Gideon behaved in nursery. For the past two weeks when I've asked, the response has been, "Well, nobody cried." That's the nice way of saying, "Your child is a terror." Apparently Gideon believes that all of the other children are excellent targets for practicing his tackling skills.

Good Big Brother

On our way back from WinCo last week, Silas started crying because he was hungry. In an attempt to comfort him, Gideon said "Are you okay?" in a sweet little voice. Then he kept repeating, "Come here. Hug." When Silas failed to be comforted, Gideon started singing to him.

Cartoon Pregnant Woman and Gideon's Clone

I allowed Peter to take a picture of my cartoonish pregnant belly on Monday night. I gained a grand total of 42 pounds. Silas was born today at 2:15 pm, weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz. and measuring 20 in. He looks a lot like Gideon did when Gideon was born.
