New Candle Scent?
You know how your house stinks if you don't do the dishes for a couple (or several) days? No? Well, I do. Anyway, when Peter was in England, our house began to smell like that and every time I left the house and came back my nose was offended. One day, however, I had made grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and then went to drop Gideon off for kindergarten. When I came back, the house smelled nice. Silas noticed this too and said, "Those grilled cheese sandwiches are like air fresheners!"
Breakfast Conversation
One day at breakfast, Silas said (in a teasing voice), "Gideon, you're pretty." Gideon responded with, "People always tell me that I have pretty eyes." I made a comment and then Gideon continued his thought with, "but both of my eyes are boys and they are so embarrassed when people say they're pretty."

Underw-air
This happened a couple of weeks ago, but I just found the napkin I'd written it down on. One night as Peter was putting Silas to bed, Silas said, "Dad, I need to tell you something."
Peter: "What Silas?"
Silas: "Dad, I think I might be wearing air instead of underwear."
Peter: (Not sure he heard correctly) "What?"
Silas: "After I went to the bathroom earlier, I couldn't find my underwear. Then I saw some air and I kind of thought it looked like my underwear, so I put it on."
Peter: "So, you're not wearing any underwear?"
Silas: "I think I'm wearing underwear...(pause)"
Peter: "Silas?"
Silas: "Actually, I'm not wearing any underwear."

Accidentally Nice
I complimented Gideon and Silas on playing nicely together this morning. Gideon's response was, "But the whole point was--we were playing goblins. We did the playing nicely on accident."

Some Positive Reinforcement for Mom
Yesterday the boys were each asking me for a piece of tape (one of their favorite toys). After granting their request, Silas said, "I LOVE the way you're acting!"

Potty Humor...Again
A little while ago, Peter overheard the following snippet of conversation between Gideon and Silas.
Silas: "...and what are you doing in the bathroom--pee pee or poo poo?"
Gideon: "I'll give you a hint. It starts with a p."
Pottyhumor incident number two was from this morning.
Silas: "Can I pee in the garbage?"
Me: "No."
Silas: "Well, I accidentally did."

I'm Loved
Gideon likes to play the "I love you more than..." game where we take turns trying to one-up each other. For example, I might say, "I love you more than this house" and Gideon might respond with, "I love you more than this whole city." We were playing this game today and Gideon had just told me that he loved me more than space when Silas piped up with, "I love you more than a whole chicken nugget!"

Trip to San Diego and Seaworld
Ambrose had fun cooing at the fish and was especially excited by a sea turtle in one of the aquariums.
While we were looking at the killer whales, the trainer came over (that's her hand right above Gideon). The whales would follow her wherever she went.Gideon touching a bat ray. This was Gideon's favorite part of Seaworld. The bat rays feel really neat and they like people. They come right up to you.
The next day we visited this sandy beach where we saw some dolphins surface close to the shore. In the first few minutes of being at the beach, Silas got knocked down by a small wave. I was standing right next to him and picked him up again, but he didn't want much to do with the water after that.
After eating a picnic lunch on a different beach, we explored the tide pools. This was my favorite part of the trip and Peter's favorite, too. Peter and the boys saw an octopus and I found a Garibaldi (pictured below, although it looks like a goldfish it was about ten inches long. No really!). We also saw lots of crabs and other types of fish.
Silas was desperately trying to reason with this seagull about why the seagull should be his friend and not fly away.
There are more pictures in the slide show on the sidebar. We had a lot of fun and the boys keep asking me if we can go back to Seaworld.
