A Smattering of Things

It's been a while since I've put anything on here, so here's a sampling of what Gideon's been up to. Gideon likes dancing to music. Yesterday as Peter was changing Gideon's diaper, Peter was bobbing his head a bit and Gideon told him, "Nice dance!"

Halloween

I believe that Peter gave the best summary of Gideon's trick-or-treating experience: "You're giving me candy. You must be my friend!" Gideon wanted to linger at each doorstep and would gladly have invited himself into every house (which is why we only went to five or six houses).

Nerd Practice

Yesterday as we were driving, Gideon decided to stick his finger up his nose and make snorting, snurgling sounds. I'm afraid I found this much too funny and encouraged him through my laughter. This was tonight's edition of the same trick. I'm hoping that he maintains this habit just until Halloween when he will be a nerd.

Peter gave Gideon the following words of wisdom after this experience: "You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your dad and you can't pick your dad's nose."

Silly Faces & Sounds

I took this video about a week ago. Gideon randomly started making funny faces while he was at the table. He was cracking me up, but by the time I got the camera out he had stopped. Fortunately, it wasn't very hard to convince him to do it again (although he did it with much less enthusiasm than before).

'Da Best

I am oozing pure joy right now! This is going to come across as bragging...because it is...but I just broke my previous scrabble record of 430 and my new record is 456. This victory ended Peter's six game winning streak, so now I am only behind by one game on 2009's total wins. Peter suggests that I give myself a title, such as Grand Master, Imperial Dragon, or the Word Fairy. I like the Word Fairy...hehehehehehehehehe wow I'm happy.

Bad Mommy

We are trying to teach Gideon not to hit by putting him in his crib whenever he does so. This evening he hit Peter and I told him "No hitting." He looked at me and then hit Peter twice more. So, I whisked him away to his crib. After about 30 seconds of crying, he paused long enough to scream "Bad Mommy!" He's not even 14 months old and already I'm a "bad mommy."

Fair-ly Boring, Very Hot

Last Saturday I took Gideon to the Utah State Fair. Guess what his favorite was? The flies.

Animal Sounds

Ahh...the real reason wheelbarrows were invented (according to Gideon).

The Un-Childproofing of My Apartment

Yesterday was a busy day for Gideon. First he learned how to unplug the safety outlet covers and then about five minutes later he learned how to climb onto the kitchen table.
