Eyebrow Colds

After wiping many a green runny nose this morning, I asked Gideon if he was sick. He said "no" but then thought for a moment. "Yes. I'm really sick." I asked, "Where are you sick?" "My eyebrows," he said, pointing for emphasis, "My eyebrows are sick."

Vocal Baby

Sometimes Silas has to have a little warm-up before he can get "mama" out.

My Nerdy Children

Yes, Gideon was also a nerd last year...but isn't it so much cuter now that I have matching nerds?

Priestcraft Continued

Yesterday I went to Young Women in Excellence and when I got home, Silas was in a cardboard box on the coffee table.

Peter had the following exchange with Gideon just before I came home.

Peter: "Don't push on Silas' head." (Gideon was trying to shove Silas' head all the way into the box.)

Gideon: "No, I was giving a blessing."

After that Gideon went over to Silas and said, "Bless him. Bless him. Bless him. Amen." The picture below was Gideon's re-enactment while Peter was telling me the story.

That's One Way of Looking at It

Gideon is usually there to supervise whenever I am putting makeup on. He is quite curious about the process and often wants makeup too--especially in the form of a "pirate mustache." Well, one day I decided to put mascara on him. And then, since he already had mascara on, I dressed him up as a girl. After dressing him, I let him look at himself in the mirror. "I look like a football player!" he squealed with joy.

The Early Stages of Priestcraft

On the way to put Gideon to bed tonight, he saw fruit snacks and wanted some. I ignored his requests. Still whining about the fruit snacks, I kissed him goodnight and walked towards the door. "Prayer!" Gideon shouts out. (Lately Gideon has been refusing to say his personal prayers, so I was quite impressed that he reminded me.) "Okay." I came back. Gideon's prayer: "Thank you for daddy. Thank you for fruit snacks. They're yummy. I can have one. Thank you for mommy. I smell something. Thank you for mommy. Thank you for fruit snacks. I want one..." And then I encouraged Gideon to end the prayer. I'm impressed with his ingenuity...not impressed with his spirituality. :)

Off with My Head...of Hair

Things that have happened this week: 1) Peter started school and changed from 17.5 credits to 13.5; 2) Peter acquired a new bike courtesy of the man who hit him; 3) Peter got a job as a research assistant for the Petroleum Engineering Research Center; 4) Emily, Gideon, and Silas rode a UTA bus for the first time; 5) Emily used birthday money from mom and dad to get a new haircut, a new pair of pants, and a new shirt (Thank you mom and dad!)

Already?

Yesterday as we were driving, I commented on the number of people that I see smoking inside of their nice cars. Gideon piped up from the back seat, "I need to smoke! Pleeease!"
