Here's a boy after my own heart. Not going to mess around with one or two bags at a time.

Today's adventure: Subfloor adhesive. All. Over. Gideon. And. Silas'. Hands. Ahhhhhhh!!!  Apparently they found a full tube of it by the side of the road and took it to their "workshop" where they proceeded to use their hands to wipe it on scrap wood. After about two hours of soaking, greasing, and scrubbing, Silas (who had way more on his hands than Gideon) managed to get most of it off.

January 1, 2016 Interviews

I want to start a tradition of doing interviews with the boys each New Year. Here's the first annual attempt. Gideon's interview was less-than-enthusiastic, but I'm hoping that adds to the charm ten years down the road.

Be Careful What You Ask For

The Sweetest Elves

The day before Christmas Silas decided to surprise me by cleaning the kitchen. He enlisted Ambrose's help and together they moved all of the chairs, swept the kitchen floor, and cleaned off the table.

My Poor Little Deprived Ragamuffins

Ambrose wasn't so sure about sitting on Santa's lap at first, but when he did he asked Santa for "his own bag of cranberries."
The idea of asking for his own bag of something came from Silas who surprised me one day when I asked him what he wanted for Christmas and he told me that he wanted "his own bag of carrots." You'd think that my children never got fruits and vegetables, but at the time Silas asked for his own bag of carrots, we had about six pounds of carrots in the fridge. He doesn't even like carrots that much, but he has clung to the idea with tenacity. Silas' teacher told the class to draw a picture of what they wanted for Christmas and Silas drew three adorable little carrots.
Thankfully Silas just told Santa that he didn't know what he wanted; it would have been embarrassing if Ambrose's bag of cranberries had been followed up with Silas' bag of carrots.

Just Like His G'pa

This morning Gideon asked me, "Mom, am I old enough to go to one of those back massage places?"

Good Mom

As Ambrose watched me take a brownie mix out of the pantry, he exclaimed, "Mom, I'm so proud of you!"
